this piece is about being at home. celebrating where we live and the beautiful environment that surrounds us. the bird stretches to embrace it’s surroundings while the curved lines reference our landscape of ups and downs, rolling surf and flowing flora. they also depict the dancing vapour that floats from a fresh cup of pulled espresso.

Welcome to the era of vintage. the colours bring  a summer light and bright to the whare. this piece celebrates our happy memories of the warmer months. the baking, the swimming, the playing. when we were kids, the summer seemed endless like nan’s homemade lemonade. we would hang in her sun drenched kitchen, drinking cool drinks and tasting sweet treats!

the tui looks so sublime and proper, perched erect on the branches of the kowhai. at least that’s how he looked until he tongued the sweet, slightly fermented flowers of the kowhai. this is the ‘before’ shot of what was to come.
